Description
Photograph of an old cemetery in Virginia City, Nevada, ca.1935. A simple tombstone enclosed by a wrought-iron fence is shown at center, surrounded by similar graves which extend up a slope into the background. A plot at center is marked by a five-pointed star a more darkly-colored marker located in the right middleground of the image reads "Stocker". In the left middleground, another grave enclosure is on the verge of collapse. Trees and tall grasses are interspersed throughout the plots, with a denser concentration of trees toward the background. Some of the graves date from the 1860's.
