Two people were killed and 45 more were injured when a chain of explosions from a gasoline-processing pump tore through an Atlantic Richfield refinery in Carson, sending 5,000-degree hydrogen flames shooting hundreds of feet into the air. The blaze was reported at 9:48 a.m., and was extinguished within an hour. The two deceased men were not immediately identified. Here, photograph shows fire fighters aiding one of the Arco Plant explosion burn victims.
