Description
This circa 1925 postcard shows McKinley Park's Lake Kiesel. The body of water was in jeopardy of drying up in early spring 1936; not because of drought, but because of the water lilies that were parching it. Park superintendent Frederick N. Evans had the lilies removed from the lake, offering them to area residents. After that, the lilies were replanted, but this time in iron tubes, within which they would draw their own water source.
