An explosion detonated in a truck parking lot and corrugated metal storage building at 662 S. Mateo St. The explosion was caused by a load of corrosive chemicals in a warehouse of a trucking firm.
Photograph caption reads: "Battalion chief Lowell Johnson holds remains of a bottle which contained a substance which it is believed exploded causing the blast in the 7th St. and Mateo area". Photograph dated: Aug. 19, 1974.
