Description: Two tourists stand in front of an old borax wagon at Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley. The town is named for an old stovepipe that was sunk into the sand to form the shaft for a well. Mountains are in the distance. Stovepipe Wells is in the northern part of Death Valley, California. Close to town are some fairly large and accessible sand dunes. The dunes are composed of sand which blew from the nearby mountains.
