Description
Two negatives in envelope labeled, "Upton Sinclair." News article from the San Jose Mercury Evening for February 28, 1934, reads: "Upton Sinclair to speak here today. Upton Sinclair, novelist and Socialist, aspiring to become candidate for Governor on the Democratic ticket, will speak at a public luncheon at noon today in the Y.W.C.A. building. More than 300 Sinclair clubs are organized throughout the state, according to his campaign manager. Sinclair announces as part of his platform a plan for collective land colonies and industrial enterprises sponsored by the state to put the unemployed to work."
