Caption printed on photo: "Kearny and Post Sts., San Francisco, Sept. 1888. Albert Dressler." Text written under photo: "Kearny Street at Post. 1888 [date changed from 1908]. Note the 'White House' and Roos Brothers stores." View of west side of Kearny at intersection of Post. Roos Bros. Leading Clothiers can be seen at the near corner, the White House store (with an arrow pointing at it) at the far. The White House bears a sign for the "Fall-Winter 1888 Great Opening." The sidewalks are crowded. Horse-drawn carts are in the street. A man is atop a ladder working on a streetlight. Two horsecars of the North Beach and Mission Railroad are about to pass on Kearny.
