Roi (George Roy) Partridge was born in 1888 in Centralia, Washington. Family eventually moved to Seattle. Beginning in 1909, Roi studied art first in New York, then in Europe. Worked in painting, ceramics, finally becoming an etcher. In 1917, moved to San Francisco, becoming supervisor of art at Mills College in 1920. Was married to Imogen Cunningham, Marion Lyman and May Fisher, Died in Walnut Creek in 1984.
