View of a street leading into the distance; above the street is a horizontal wire and in center is an "X" sign hanging from it; on right side of street in foreground are bare, leafless trees and cars parked into the photo on the street; further down street from trees is a large building cut off by top of photo; on left side of street cars are parked facing out of photo; a 7 story building is in foreground on left side with smaller buildings receding down the street; no trees on left side of street. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Plaza Building, left, 'State Offices'. Standard Oil S.S. Left. City Plaza, right."
