Photograph was edited for publication purposes Stanley Mosk was born on September 4, 1912. He was an Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court for 37 years, from 1964-2001, the longest-serving justice on that court. Before sitting on the state Supreme Court, he served as Attorney General of California and as a trial court judge, among other governmental positions. The main civil courthouse of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, The Stanley Mosk Courthouse, is named after him. Mosk died in 2001. First photograph caption dated October 16, 1962 reads "Stanley Mosk."; Second photograph caption dated August 14, 1964 reads "New justice. Atty. Gen. Stanley Mosk was appointed to the California State Supreme Court by Gov. Edmund G. Brown." Mosk, left, is pictured with Democratic Congressional candidate, Robert Felixson.
