Description
Connie and Jesse begin the interview discussing the sport of surfing and how Jesse became interested in surfing through the Middle East. They move on to talk about Jesse’s contacts in the Middle East and how he developed relationships with the locals through surfing, and how the practice of journalism is shifting to ground-level experiences. Connie and Jesse proceed to reflect on Jesse’s various experiences journeying through the area countries and the people he encounters along the way, the amount of time he spent there, and the way women conduct themselves in the region before moving on to consider contemporary changes occurring in the Middle East and misconceptions Americans may have about the Muslim Brotherhood. They then discuss when Jesse will be returning to the Middle East, and Connie closes the interview requesting an autograph for her copy of the book.
