Photograph caption dated November 2, 1962 reads, "The library at Fulton Junior High School, Van Nuys, is now adorned with this paneled mural painted by Flavio Cabral, Valley College associate art professor. Cabral painted the mural on weekends and in his spare time. It took nine months to complete. Depicting water navigation from prehistoric to present times, the mural was financed by the Fulton Junior High School student body and PTA. Cabral, who teaches art and art history classes, lives in North Hollywood. He formerly taught at Fulton before going to Valley College in 1955."
