Description
Photograph of a Signal Hill oil well view, ca. 1929. A group of oil derricks can be seen in the foreground, built on a hill. The derricks can be seen extending into the middle, on top of the hill. Utility poles and utility lines can also be seen among the derricks on the hill. A stairway can also be seen in the right foreground, leading up to an elevated platform on one of the oil derricks. Behind the derrick in the right foreground, a white fence can be seen, running from behind the derrick on the right to behind a derrick in the left foreground. Four dark colored, cylindrical oil storage tanks can be seen in the center of the photograph, behind the white fence. Several buildings can be seen on the hill, also at center.
