Photograph article dated February 15, 1961 partially reads, "Van Nuys' first baby and a Van Nuys couple married 50 years will be honored at the community's 50th birthday party on Feb. 22. Special awards will be given to Whitley Van Nuys Huffaker and to Mr. and Mrs. John A. Cooper. Huffaker, 5564 Tobias Ave., was born on Oct. 18, 1911 - the first baby born in the newly-founded community of Van Nuys. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Huffaker, named him after H. J. Whitley, founder of Van Nuys, and after the community itself. The Coopers, who have lived in the Valley for 42 years, will be honored for celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at their present home, 16760 Sherman Way, Van Nuys in 1928." Pictured are the Coopers, examining an original wedding present.
