Caption reads: "The gasoline tax wihich Californians have been paying to reconstruct north state highways damaged by the Christmas floods was cut off at midnight last night after raising sufficient funds for the work. These three photos show typical progress on a project, the Eel River Bridge on U. S. 101 at Rio Dell, Humboldt County. Top photo was taken January 6. By February 26, center photo, flood waters were receding and construction had begun. Bottom photo shows almost waterless river and the current status of the bridge. Minor detours did not greatly hamper tourist travel."
