Description
Photograph of French aviator Louis Paulhan aloft in the night sky at the Dominguez Hills Air Meet (Phoenix, Arizona?), ca.1915. Paulhan's aircraft is at right and is a fragile-looking biplane with a pusher propeller. There is no fuselage, and only a few thin wooden beams provide support for the broad wings and tail planes. The landing gear consists of two wheels on each side of the plane under the wing. A small blimp is at center and consists of a large elliptical balloon supporting a small cabin slung underneath. A large rudder and a propeller are attached to the cabin.
