Designed by Stanton and Stockwell, the Junipero Serra State Office Building opened in 1960 and was in use until 1998; it was demolished in 2006 and is the site of a new Federal Courts Building. The State of California replaced its offices with the Ronald Reagan State Building, located at 300 S. Spring Street. Looking northwest from the City Hall tower towards the intersections of Hill, 1st and 2nd streets. In the foreground, left to right, are the Junipero Serra State Office Building, under construction, the California State Building (later demolished), the Los Angeles County Law Library and the Los Angeles County Courthouse (later renamed the Stanley Mosk Courthouse). Further west are Bunker Hill, beginning to undergo changes. Dated July 26, 1958.
