Description: This 1960 photograph provides an aerial view of the newly constructed Grand Oaks Shopping Center in Citrus Heights. In the background is part of the Grand Oaks neighborhood, Citrus Heights' first major residential development. The area had been part of the 1,000-acre Van Maren Ranch, homesteaded in the mid-1850s. The residential features of Grand Oaks predate the shopping center, having been established in the mid-1950s.
