A crowd on January 19, 1938, is protesting the sale of scrap iron sent to Japan, to protect the people of China. The picket line was formed in Long Beach by the Women's Auxiliary, United Fishermen of the Pacific, a year before the outbreak of World War II, when Japan had invaded Manchuria.
