Description
Chart reads: "Trend of Relief, Los Angeles County". From May, 1928 to May, 1936, figures, each representing 10,000 cases, chart the rise of public assistance. The total for 1928 is 6,324; 1930 - 10,457; 1932 - 31,726; 1934 - 119,612; 1936 - 137,000. The figure for 1928 is in top hat and cane; the figures for the remaining years wear workman's overalls. Chart dated: Oct., 1936. Chart drawn by D.C. Newmarch.
