Description
Image of an interior shot of the soldiers of the last Spanish camp in Cienfuegos, Cuba. In white uniforms sans artillery, the soldiers stand and kneel among hammocks, posing for the picture. Cienfuegos is one of the chief seaports in Cuba and during the Spanish-American war (Apr. 1898-Aug. 1898) it was blockaded by two United States warships under Admiral Winfield Scott. The war ended with a U.S. victory, Cuba's independence, and the signing of the Treaty of Paris 1898.
