Description
Scope/Content: An oral history with Gloria Sefton, a lawyer who has a background in chemistry and now works for a medical device company in Irvine. After moving to Trabuco Canyon in 1988, she became involved in environmental advocacy to preserve the canyons in their rural space. After winning a lawsuit as a private citizen, she decided to attend law school to become an environmental attorney. She co-founded Saddleback Canyon’s Conservancy and is also Vice President of Friends of Harbors, Beaches and Parks. During her interview, Gloria discusses her journey to becoming an environmental advocate and how she became involved with environmental non-profit organizations. She talks about the litigation processes that occurred in order to preserve the rural areas and canyons in Orange County. She explains the links between clean ups and how the pandemic affected them. She discusses what can be done on a personal level to help save the environment.
