Description
"Gnadenthal. Ein Ochsenwagen vor dem Winkel." ("Genadendal. An oxcart in front of the shop.") In the foreground of the picture there are several oxen and an oxcart that is standing to the right. In the background, many people of African and European descent are standing in front of a small house. Two houses of the same size are standing to the left and right of it. Three trees in the foreground and several behind the houses.
The word "Winkel" is a term taken from Afrikaans meaning "shop".
