Title supplied by cataloger. Photograph caption dated December 19, 1949 reads, "Roy S. Penland overhears robbery gang." Penland, Northridge resident, Valley Division squadman and twin brother of fellow officer Russell Penland, overheard gang members talking about a fight in a cafe. Penland later saw a report that in which several young men were wanted for a robbery where a girl was used to lure two servicemen to an isolated area of Hollywood. As a result of Penland's alertness, detectives were able to locate and arrest the guilty men and women; all confessed to the crime.
