More than 12,000 fans turned out at Wrigley Field this afternoon to usher in the 1937 Pacific Coast baseball season with the Angels and San Diego furnishing the fireworks. Shown is a general view as the two teams paraded just before the start of the contest. Mayor Shaw, as usual, hurled the first ball. The crowd was one of the largest in recent years. Photo dated: April 3, 1937. (Note: this photo is reversed--writing is backwards on uniforms. When printing first time, be sure to flop negative.)
