Description
This 1936 photograph reveals the unbridled pleasure of children running between classrooms at Marshall Elementary School, at 2700 G Street. At the time this photograph was taken, the school was offering a kindergarten through ninth-grade curriculum. Just two years later, the city imposed uniform 5 percent reductions in teacher salaries to absorb the impact of the ebbed public funding vis-a-vis the Great Depression.
