Sixty to sixty-five year old white fir (Abies concolor) on gentle N. E. exposure 4700 feet elevation near Sugar Pine, Mariposa [i.e. Madera] County. A plot laid out here showed a volume of 46,000 board feet per acre by International Rule to a 4" top. These trees were advance reproduction when the area was logged 23 years ago and show marked acceleration of growth since that time. A 5 foot sugar pine stump adjacent to this plot showed 206 annual rings. May, 1925
