In this audio recording Peter F. Drucker interviews Glenn Dumke in his audio book, “The Nonprofit Drucker.” This tape is part of the series entitled, “Mission and Leadership.” Dumke begins by discussing his academic background as Chancellor Emeritus for the California State University system. He talks about his work building up a strong university system by having many programs accredited. He discusses the importance of giving trustees authority over decision-making. Drucker talks about his own experience building a large university system, and that a good staff and faculty are essential. Dumke discusses how changes on campuses during the 1960s and 1970s negatively affected the missions of many schools. He ends the interview by talking about the qualities a strong leader should have working for a public institution.
