Description
Photograph caption dated November 30, 1957 reads "Mrs. Betty Smith, 30, center, sobs as she leaves her home at 5358 Oak Park Dr., Encino, in custody of policewoman and policeman after allegedly telling detectives that she had killed her baby. She was booked on suspicion of murder. Detectives say baby might have died of natural causes due to chicken pox and are awaiting coroner's verdict before accepting mother's story."
