Description
“Sœurs de Ste. Marie de Manur, Leverville (Kwango). Sisters of St. Mary of Namur (Belgium). Concassage du manioc. The bruising of the manioc.” Women and girls at the Mission of St. Mary of Namur pause in their work crushing cassavas. Each has a numbered card pinned to her dress. One woman stands at a tall wood mortar, holding a large pestle. Some wear Catholic patron saint medals. The caption is printed on the back of the postcard. There is no handwriting on the back.
