Photograph caption dated August 24, 1960 reads, "The story of 72-year-ol mansion is told in assessor archives; elegant Doheny homes are now property of the Catholic Church." When Estelle Doheny died in 1958, she willed the land to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles
