Description
In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 30. View of a street leading into the distance with trolley tracks in street; on left side of street rises a building out of the photo; in the middle of building is an awning which juts to side of street and above hangs a sign for a hotel; hotel is at least 5 floors high; beyond the hotel on left is a two story building and then trees beyond; on right side is another 5 floor building with a "Walgreens" on corner around the side;beyond this on right is a sign shaped like the Eiffel Tower; cars parked on both sides of street 1989-1262. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Wm. Land Hotel, First called Palmer House, about 1868; State House Hotel in the '80's, later present name...Sacto. Hotel, left, erected in 1909."
