Description: Pickets at the struck General Motors South Gate plant, warm their hands around a bonfire in the early morning chill as CIO-UAW leaders went into action in an attempt to end the "wildcat" strike. Nearly 5000 persons are idled by the unauthorized strike. Photo dated: June 9, 1955.
