Description
Fire chief Harvey Anderson races by a squad car during an effort to contain the "Newton" wild fire that raged on December 26, 1956. The fire scorched the area between Kanan and Decker Canyons and sent residents fleeing to the beach. In total, the fire burned 26,000 acres, including 100 homes, and caused one death.
