Description
Nationalist mural, Ardoyne Avenue, Ardoyne, 1999/2002. Famine mural. 'An Gorta Mόr' [The Great Hunger]; 'They buried us without shroud or coffin - S. Heaney' [from Seamus Heaney's Requiem for the Croppies']. Mural updated in 2002 with new central image: 'Eviction Emigration', depiction of eviction in 19th century and victims preparing for emigration; 'Ardoyne Art & Environment Project'; plough underneath; to left: plaque commemorating IRA volunteer Larry Marley, assassinated in Havana Gardens (to left). 'This plaque is dedicated to I.R.A. volunteer Larry Marley assassinated in his home at Havana Gardens by Loyalists in collusion with British Crown Forces on the 2nd April 1987'.
