August Palombo, a bootlegger, was shot to death in his automobile on Hillcrest Avenue.
Photograph caption dated July 26, 1928 reads, "In an effort to obtain his release from the city jail, Dominick De Soto (aka Domenico Di Ciolla), alleged gangster, whom police believe to be the leader of the north side racketeers, was to file a writ of habeas corpus today along with three other suspects. They are held in connection with the investigation into the murder of August Palombo, asserted bootlegger."; See photograph 00130306 for a full view of the lineup.
