Description
This gown was originally worn by Anita de la guerra on the occasion of her marriage to Alfred Robinson in 1836, an event commemorated in Richard Henry Dana's memoir, Two Years Before the Mast. The piece remained with the de la Guerra family through the decades and was used and altered during that time, until given to the Museum in 1964.
