Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on June 4, 1963 states: "This is US Highway 50 as it looks to the motorist northbound toward Stateline, Lake Tahoe. Signs and utility poles have replaced the majestic trees which lined the route less than 10 years ago. The four lane highway often is crowded to capacity, particularly on holiday weekends. Planners estimate 12 lanes will be needed to handle the ever increasing traffic along the south shore of the lake by 1980."
