Description
This 1930 photograph shows four women, mounted on polo ponies with mallets at the ready. Sacramento polo received a tremendous boost when, in Spring 1930, a polo field was constructed within the inner portion of the California State Fairgrounds' race track. In addition, stables were also established at the fairgrounds. Both features attracted riding enthusiasts and polo players from throughout California. This photograph was taken at Sacramento Riding Club Field, in the Del Paso district of Sacramento County. The rider at the far right is Barbara Worth.
