Description
This vertical, cylindrical drum (known as a huehuetl, or "venerable old man" in Náhuatl), is made from a hollowed log which has been carved with an image of an eagle. It stands on three legs that have a sawtooth design, carved from the frame of the instrument. A single hide membrane or drumhead is attached by cord to wooden pegs.
