Description
Marshall Bond, Oliver H. R. La Farge, Lyman R. Cold, and Stanley Pearce sit with two dogs in front of log cabin in Dawson, Yukon. Dog on left with Marshall Bond is identified as Buck by "This is Buck x" at the top. Signature of Jack London at top of photo.
Title provided by cataloger. The dog was the inspiration for the character "Buck" in The Call of the Wild. Though note on back of photograph says Louis Bond is pictured, scholarly sources identify him as Marshall Bond. Verso of photo reads in Jack London's hand: "Dear Lurline: Louis Bond's dog taken in Dawson in 1897."
