Photograph article dated August 3, 1957 partially reads, "Abe Schierling will be ordained to the Christian ministry at 7:30 p.m. ceremonies tomorrow at the Van Nuys Missionary Church, 14339 Hamlin St. A member of the Van Nuys church, he is home on furlough from a mission post in the Dominican Republic, where he is sponsored by the Missionary Church Association. For the last four years, he has been stationed in Dajabon and Loma de Cabrera and taught in the Bible school at Dajabon."
