As seen in 1980, beyond the ornate doors and intricate mosaic pattern in the floor, is the ballroom of the Crocker Art Museum, a gift to the people of Sacramento from Margaret Crocker. The gallery and ballroom of the Crocker Art Museum were under construction for several years before being opened to the public in March of 1874 to display the more than 700 paintings and miniatures collected by Edwin Crocker at this time.
