Description
A quote written on the back of the photograph reads, "Some people wondered if there were any [Chumash.] Well, for a while it was better for an Indian to hide under a rock or behind a tree. You may not remember that, but it's true... We would like to live here with oak trees and a stream, but people thought we would like to live where it's hot. Welcome to Chumash Land, State Parks."
