Pictured is Joe Sica (left) of Sun Valley, who voluntarily surrendered to Van Nuys police to clear himself of battery charges brought by a 21-year-old Pacoima woman. The complainant, Mrs. Edith A. Dibler, told police she was struck in the ear by a guest in her home who identified himself as Joe Sica; he, in turn, stated that he never saw her before in his life. Mrs. Dibler was unable to pick Sica from an impromptu lineup of suspects and he went free. However, 49-year-old Sica is facing conspiracy and extortion charges in federal court along with underworld boxing czar, Frankie Carbo, for trying to chisel into the earnings of ex-welterweight champion, Don Jordon. Here, Mr. Sica appears to be speaking with two reporters (out of frame in this shot). Photograph dated January 20, 1961.; See images #00135278 through #00135284 for all photos in this series.
