Description
Photograph of a water chestnut vendor on the curbside in China, ca.1900. The stand is laid-out with the water chestnuts displayed in along a table in various baskets and bowls. An older man sits in a bamboo chair to the left of them, his hands in his lap. A second man can be seen to the right, deeper down the table, and partially in an alley. A large door, possibly made of ebony, is partially visible to the far left, while a bamboo building can be seen to the far right.
