Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated December 7, 1963 reads "A studio prop car, painted to duplicate a Los Angeles police car, arrived at the downtown police headquarters for some exterior scenes. It looked different from the last TV prop car because a motto had been added. In that the television people were merely being accurate. Within the past month, all 395 LAPD squad cars have the department's fine motto painted on each side, a great public relations step forward. Quote: 'To Protect and To Serve.'"
