Church and presbytery, Philippines, ca. 1911 San Nicolas de Tolentino Cathedral, Tandag City, Surigao Del Sur, Northeast Mindanao Island, Southern Philippines, ca.1911
Photograph of "church and presbytery of[?] as restored by me. It looks much nicer than it really is, but for this country it is pretty good. The roof of the church is very bad. Fr. van den Bogaard, 9-18-11." A man and three boys stand in the road in front of the presbytery. Across from the buildings a row of trees lines the road. Additional information: "This is San Nicolas de Tolentino Cathedral, Tandag City, Surigao Del Sur, Northeast Mindanao Island, Southern Philippines. The native materials used to build this church by Fr. Van den Bogaard apparently did not last long it was replaced by a new church built in the 1950s. But the 1950s cathedral was declared unsafe for use in recent years. A new church was built at another Tandag City, Surigao Del Sur location that was projected to be completed in 2014" -- a USC Digital Library Patron, 2015-12-15.
