Scope/Content: After completing medical school at the University of California, Howard C. Naffziger (1884-1961) studied neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins with Harvey Cushing, returned to UC and rose through the ranks, eventually becoming first full-time chair of surgery; portrait signed to Roy Abbott.
