“Photographs of native youths & chiefs at Embu show, Aug 1925.” Group portrait of indigenous men wearing traditional dress. The Embu district borders the Chuka lands, south of Chogoria mission, and the people are related to the Kikuyu. ❧ This image is from the first years of the Chogoria mission in Kenya, which was run by the Rev. Dr Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974), from the collection entitled ‘Chogoria, 1922. The early days.”
